Some things to keep in mind while prom dress shopping.

Updated: 2 hours ago

1. Start early: Begin your prom dress shopping at least a few months before the event to allow enough time for changes, fittings, and alterations if needed.

2. Bring a friend or family member: Having a second opinion can be helpful when choosing a prom dress. Bring someone you trust who knows your style preferences and can offer honest feedback.

3. Dress code: Make sure to check the prom dress code set by your school or event organizers. Some schools have specific guidelines on dress length, style, and modesty.

4. Try different styles: Even if you have a specific style in mind, be open to trying different types of dresses. You may be surprised by what looks best on you.

5. Body type: Consider your body shape and what styles of dresses flatter your figure. Different styles like A-line, mermaid, ball gown, and sheath can accentuate different body types.

6. Consider comfort: While you want to look stunning, make sure the dress is comfortable and allows you to move and dance freely. Avoid dresses that are too tight or restrictive.

7. Plan your accessories: Consider what shoes, jewelry, and other accessories you will wear with your prom dress. Make sure they complement the dress and enhance your overall look.

8. Trust your instincts: Don't be swayed by trends or other people's opinions - go with what makes you happy. A garment that reflects your personal style and makes you feel confident and beautiful.

9. Have fun: Prom dress shopping should be an enjoyable experience, so relax, have fun, and enjoy the process of finding the perfect dress for your special night.

Picking the Perfect Custom Designer for Your Custom Garment

Special occasions don't have retakes, so choose wisely!

While searching for your custom designer, pay attention to…

  •  Craftsmanship:

Zoom in. Look for even straight stitches, hems and closures

  • Fit:

Check past work. Do their garments hug the body smoothly and flatter the client?

  • Fabrics & Lining:

Luxe materials, durable & suitable. Not all garments need lining, but it often adds structure and longevity. Thin, crinkled, or sloppy finishes = sketchy skills

  • Client Reviews:

Did they get showstopper dresses, they loved?

How was their experience?

  • Pricing:

Don't pay for hype! pay for perfection.

  • Creativity:

Check portfolios. Do all their looks have one style? Just different clients in different colors.

Your look should be iconic & unique. You're buying craftsmanship, confidence, and art.

I started with a vision, no experience & yes, I made mistakes. But every mistake was a lesson, every critique was fuel. I read books, took classes, and pushed myself to grow. Today, that hunger for perfection is in every stitch.

The designer you choose should show growth!

And growth shows passion!
